CHARACTER OF THE CITY
1. Tomsk is a "philosopher" city and a "warrior" city, caught between two extremes. Moon in Aries (in opposition to Venus in Libra) is an aggressive, uncomfortable everyday life. The city wants to be beautiful (Libra), but living conditions (Moon) are harsh, Spartan. Hence the eternal struggle to preserve wooden architecture (a symbol of coziness, the past) versus point-block high-rise construction (a symbol of progress, violence against history). Residents are torn between the desire to live in "old Tomsk" and the need for "European-style renovations."
3. "We are the capital" vs. "We are the province."

While other cities cut down forests and pump oil, Tomsk will be thinking about how to do it smarter, cleaner, and with what consequences. Its purpose is to suffer from its own genius, but it is precisely this pain that gives birth to the "Tomsk miracle" that attracts everyone tired of grayness and wanting to think. Tomsk is the "eternal student" who will never graduate, because its mission is the very process of cognition.
