CHARACTER OF THE CITY
- A piston city that burns itself out in motion. Caledon is not a place for a quiet life. The city's chart literally screams of internal tension: T-squares and a Grand Cross involving the Moon in Aries, Mercury in Capricorn, Pluto in Libra, and Saturn in Cancer. This means the city is eternally torn between four imperatives: to act impulsively (Moon in Aries), to plan coldly and calculatingly (Mercury in Capricorn), to fight for power and redistribution of resources (Pluto in Libra), and to protect a cozy past (Saturn in Cancer). Residents of Caledon live in a state of permanent crisis, where every day is a smoldering conflict between "I want it now" and "I need to endure for the future." This is a city where people start businesses that burn out in five years, and where old neighborhoods are constantly being rebuilt for new needs, erasing their own history.
- A money bag with a hole in its pocket. The Sun in Capricorn and Venus in Aquarius in conjunction with Jupiter is a classic sign of a city that knows how to earn but does not know how to enjoy. Caledon is oriented toward status, career, and material success (Capricorn), but its values (Venus) and luck (Jupiter) are in Aquarius—the sign of collectivism, technology, and strange ideas. The city will grow wealthy on innovations and startups, but every success will taste of bitterness. The aspect Mercury square Pluto (0.7°) is corruption permeating all business ties. Deals here are made under the table, contracts are backdated, and information is the primary weapon. From the outside, it seems like life is boiling here, with technologies and money being born. But inside, it is a place where "too-smart people do too-stupid things." On a national scale, Caledon is a locomotive that pulls the economy but constantly derails due to internal squabbles.
The city's unique mission is to be a testing ground for social experiments. Thanks to the combination of Neptune (ideas) and Pluto (power), it is in Caledon that new laws, social programs, and economic models will be tested. If something works in Caledon, it will work everywhere. If it fails, it will fail spectacularly.
Sister cities: cities with similar karma are San Francisco (technology + social conflicts), Berlin (divided past and turbulent present), and Barcelona (cultural center with separatist sentiments). Rival cities: any conservative and bureaucratic center (e.g., the country's capital), with which Caledon will wage a struggle for resources and the right to autonomy. What it earns from: The city is a true forge of startups and creative industries. Venus-Jupiter in Aquarius means money from ideas, intellectual property, fashion, and design. Strong Neptune in Sagittarius means tourism, education (universities, courses), and everything related to "journeys of the spirit" (esotericism, psychology, yoga tours). Mars in Taurus means a reliable sector of agriculture or resource extraction (if deposits exist). What it loses on: The main expense item is corruption and legal costs. Mercury square Pluto means constant investigations, fines, kickbacks, and broken contracts. Money leaks into the "black holes" of intermediaries. Saturn in Cancer means inefficient management of public utilities and housing stock. The city will spend enormous sums patching holes in infrastructure that is destroyed due to negligence. CULTURE AND IDENTITY
What it is proud of: Caledon is proud of its innovation and avant-garde. Venus-Jupiter in Aquarius means museums of contemporary art, techno festivals, architectural experiments. The city considers itself "ahead of the whole planet." It is also proud of its multiculturalism (Neptune in Sagittarius)—languages, cuisines, and traditions are mixed here. Caledon is a melting pot where everyone can find themselves.
What it is silent about: The city is silent about its dark side. Pluto in Libra and its aspects point to the shadow economy, racketeering, drug trafficking, and influence peddling. It is silent about social inequality, which is colossal here. Luxurious quarters for the elite coexist with slums where lawlessness reigns. It is silent about the psychological problems of its residents—high levels of depression, suicide, and addiction (Moon-Neptune). The culture of Caledon is a facade behind which drama is hidden.
FATE AND DESTINY
Caledon exists to be a laboratory of human relations. Its fate is to constantly die and be reborn, passing through crises that temper its inhabitants. Its contribution is new ideas and new forms of life that it throws out into the world, despite often being unable to cope with their consequences itself.
