CHARACTER OF THE CITY
- A volcano city living on a powder keg. Kirishima is not just a Japanese city at the foot of a volcano. It itself is a volcano. Its character is defined by the T-square of the Sun, Mars, and Neptune, tied into a Grand Cross with Saturn. This means the city is in a permanent state of crisis and transformation. Every few decades, something happens here that turns everything upside down: an eruption, an earthquake, an economic collapse, or a sudden tourist boom. Residents are accustomed to instability; they do not make plans 50 years ahead. They live for today, knowing that tomorrow the mountain may awaken. This is a community of people who have learned to dance on ash. The Sun in Scorpio gives the city an incredible capacity for regeneration: destruction here is not an end, but the beginning of a new cycle.
- A reclusive city with delusions of grandeur. Saturn in proud Leo is a pose. The city wants to be the center of attention, wants to be talked about, but does so in a strange way: through isolation and self-sufficiency. Kirishima will not chase after tourists. It will sit on its mountain and wait for them to come and pay homage. This is the aristocratic pride of the province. The spirit of the city is stoicism. The Moon in Capricorn is the "Japanese samurai spirit", taken to the extreme. It is not customary to cry, complain, or ask for help here. Even after a disaster, residents silently clear the rubble. The cult of the volcano is central. The annual "Fire Wheel" festival (burning huge torches) is not just a show, but a ritual to appease the mountain.
What they are proud of: The unique architecture of the baths, where steam mixes with fog, creating a mystical atmosphere. They are proud of "Kirishima tea" — the most expensive in the region. They are proud that they survived the 1991 eruption (a real event, if it happened, or something similar).
What they are silent about: About poverty. About the fact that young people leave for Fukuoka. About mental health problems (Chiron in Capricorn — the wound of loneliness). About corruption in the local administration (Pluto in Sagittarius — hidden land scams). They are silent about suicides in the forests at the foot of the volcano — this is a taboo topic.
FATE AND PURPOSE
Kirishima exists to demonstrate that life is possible on the brink of catastrophe. It is a lighthouse city for all who live in risk zones. Its purpose is to teach humanity the balance between audacity and humility, between using nature and worshipping it.
